What are your summer plans?
Summer is finally here! For many families summer is just a continuation of the normal school year, except that it's a lot warmer and the days last longer. Summer is a time to slow down. Take life at a little slower pace and relax. This summer, why not keep your schedule open and create free-form times together as a family. Don't bunch everything into one or two weeks of the summer. Try to spread it out so that you can enjoy it.
Plan short trips for the weekends, or find activities that are economical and enjoyable for everyone. Do things this summer that will leave a lasting impression in your child's memory bank.
Below we've listed some fun summer ideas.
- Schedule time with your family to simply do nothing
- Summer camp for kids
- Set up a game table on your porch or deck for puzzles, card games, or board games.
- We've said this before, but the zoo is a wonderful adventure and a great place to visit!
- Ask your child what would be the most fun for them to do in a day and do it.
- Let your kids run through the yard sprinkler (one of the benefits is that you'll have a well-watered lawn when they're done).
- Pitch a tent in your back yard and sleep under the stars with your kids.
- Visit a local amusement or water park.
- Allow your child to play electronic devices such as video games only once a week. Have them get outside more.
- Reconnect with your neighbors by having a block party.
There are so many great ways to make your summer vacation fun and memorable. Use your imagination. And also take time this summer relax, and to peacefully love your family at a slower pace.
